Bad Vibes. Extremely unprofessional. Unethical. Illegal? Aim to find out.
It took two visits to get a correct script for glasses. First exam was incomplete. When I called the office later that day and described why I felt it was incomplete the office manager told me to come in for a second exam at no expense to me. When I got there no one knew anything. After going back and forth another office person spoke to Dr. Privis who said I would not be charged a second time. They wanted me to sign another release form for payment from insurance to go directly to them but I refused since there was not supposed to be any further charges.
Dr. Privis completed my second exam and gave me a script that was, in fact, different from the one I got the week before. She told me Dr Sherwood went into labor the evening of my first visit and that was supposed to be the reason I did not get a complete exam or correct script.
They charged my insurance for two office visits and have charged me two co-pays. When I called the office manager scolded me for reiterating what Dr. Privis told me about Dr. Sherwood going into labor. She said I was being discriminatory. When she calmed down and actually heard me say that I was simply repeating what Dr. Privis told me she said Dr. Privis had no right to say that and she would have to have a word with the doctor. I received a call back from the receptionist the next day who told me Dr. Privis will waiver the charge for the second exam but she said I had to pay a second co-pay. The receptionist refused to let me speak to the doctor and warned that the bill will go into collection if I don’t pay both co-pays. Then hung up.
